Bernhard Mertens, Civil Engineer responsible for finding the Railcar in Germany. He was very proud to be a part of the project and came to Iowa for the dedication. He also later located some markers that were from this type of rail car. Here, next to the Railcar in the exhibit, he explains how the marker in his hand gives train stations information.
