Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center (2013)

skokielogoOn Sunday, November 10th, 2013, students and supporters of Temple Judah Religious School took a field trip to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center (LINK) in Skokie, Illinois. Participants report that the all-day event “was an excellent experience for everyone who joined us,” and expressed their thanks to the Thaler Holocaust Committee and Robert Becker, Chief Financial Officer of the Thaler Holocaust Committee, for arranging the bus to Skokie. Also to the Temple Judah Board and especially Robert Silber and Lena Gilbert for their help.

The founding principle of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center is ”Remember the Past, Transform the Future.” Opened in 2009, The Museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust by honoring the memories of those who were lost and by teaching universal lessons that combat hatred, prejudice and indifference. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibits of art and artifacts which raise awareness not only of the Holocaust, but of the ongoing threat of genocide around the globe.
